For about a decade from 1993 I collected flyers for nightclubs. It was a decade which started with decriminalisation of homosexuality and ended with the Celtic Tiger at almost the height of its hubris.

Before the internet, events were routinely advertised by distributing printed adverts. Nightclub promoters went around the bars handing out flyers intended to attract drinkers to continue their night in their club. It was a competitive market and the flyer needed to attract attention – a photocopied A5 sheet just wasn’t going to cut it on a Friday night in Hogan’s or the Front Lounge.

I’ve put together a gallery of flyers from my favourites clubs of the era including Elevator, H.A.M., getOUT, H.O.T, The Playground and the Kitchen.
THere’s a great article about that special time for Dublin nightlife on 909originals
